The Kentucky Derby Festival Student Art Contest is open to all public, private and parochial school students in Jefferson and Oldham counties, as well as Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana. Three community art professionals serve as judges, awarding the winners of six divisions with medallions, certificates, and a Kentucky Derby Festival Student Art Contest Winner’s Pin. First-place winners also receive a 2013 Derby Festival framed poster.
The winning artwork will be unveiled at the Derby Festival Poster Premiere and Student Art Awards Ceremony on January 23 at The Henry Clay. Teachers of award-winning students also receive special recognition at the ceremony. After the ceremony, the artwork will be on display at the Mellwood Arts Center until April 26. It will then be relocated and on display at the Republic Bank Parade Preview Party on April 30.
