Louisville, KY.   – Pegasus Pin purchasers who found a Gold Winner Pin in their 2014 Pegasus Pin Sponsorship envelope must register online at www.pegasuspins.com by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, to be eligible for the drawing of the Gold Pin Grand Prize – Kentuckiana Honda Dealers, 2014 Honda CRV.  The winner will be drawn on Friday, May 9.  This year, the odds of finding a gold winner pin are 1 in 12, with 20,000 of these pins in circulation.

In addition to a pin, inside each pin envelope are 3 coupons with discount offers from local retailers.  The envelope also includes the Pegasus Pin registration card. Consumers used the unique code on the card to register their pins online at www.pegasuspins.com or through the new KDF App.

The Pegasus Pin is the community’s primary way to support Kentucky Derby Festival events.  Revenue generated from the pins helps to underwrite (along with corporate sponsorship) the many free events of the not-for-profit Derby Festival, such as Thunder Over Louisville and the U.S. Bank Great BalloonFest.

The Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit civic organization that must raise all its funds privately to produce the annual two-week slate of nearly 70 events.  In addition to support from corporate sponsorship and merchandising royalties, the community actually helps produce the events it enjoys through personal contributions with the Pegasus Pin Program.

Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. The Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
