9/7/17 – DERBY FESTIVAL THROWING PEGASUS PIN PARTY!

Sept. 7, 2017. Louisville, KY. – You’re invited to the Kentucky Derby Festival’s fifth annual Pegasus Pin Party. The event is this Saturday, September 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Festival’s headquarters at 1001 S. Third Street in Louisville.

The party will feature discount pricing on all past year pins, as well as a special raffle of a complete set of “Instant Win” and “Exchange Pins.” The “Instant Win” pins are an integral part of the Pegasus Pin Program each year and are very sought after by collectors. A total of 64 original pins are included in the set ranging from 1987 – 2018! Only 150 raffle tickets will be sold for the set at $20 each and the drawing will be held at the party.

Past Festival posters, postcards and collectible glasses will also be available for purchase; along with metal event, balloon and corporate pins from 1989 to 2017. Plus, guests participate in a silent auction of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces that include everything from a bourbon barrel head to custom jewelry.

“The Pegasus Pin Party is a great opportunity for someone to start or complete their Pegasus Pin collection,” said Mike Berry, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO. “Produced for more than four decades there are many designs and styles for collectors to choose from.”

The Pegasus Pin provides an opportunity for the community to support Kentucky Derby Festival events every spring. Revenue generated from sales of the pins helps to underwrite the many free events of the not-for-profit Derby Festival, such as Thunder Over Louisville, Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville, and the U.S. Bank Great BalloonFest.

The Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit civic organization that must raise all its funds privately to produce the annual two-week slate of nearly 70 events. In addition to corporate sponsorship and merchandising royalties, the community helps support the events it enjoys through the purchase of a Pegasus Pin.

Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. The Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
