4/25/2015 – DERBY FESTIVAL CELEBRATION SUNDAY FEATURES CHRISTIAN CONCERT AND GOSPELFEST

Afternoon of Music Performances Starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday

April 25, 2015 Louisville, KY.  – Christian contemporary music and a gospel choir showcase will take the stages tomorrow at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville. The Passport Health Plan GospelFest starts at 2 p.m. on the Music Stage at Chow Wagon.  The Celebration Sunday concert with WJIE featuring Unspoken starts at 5 p.m. on the Great Stage at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville. Admission to both shows is a 2015 Pegasus Pin.

Michael Young and In God’s Presence, Jason Clayborn & Thee Ensemble, along with the 2015 GospelFest Super Choir will headline this year’s Passport Health Plan GospelFest.  The event has enjoyed resounding success since it came on the schedule in 2012. Opening at 2 PM, the event will feature choir performances throughout the day. Performances include: Greater Friendship, Cable Baptist Church Voices of Inspiration, Moore Sisters, St. Stephen Tabernacle Choir, First Gethsemane Baptist Church Mass Choir, New Albany High School, among many others. GospelFest is sponsored by Passport Health Plan with contributing sponsor Becker Law Office; and media sponsors WLOU/New Praise 104.7 and B96.5 FM.

The Derby Festival Celebration Sunday concert with WJIE features soulful-pop-rock band Unspoken. With two straight Top 5 singles including “Who You Are” and “Lift My Life Up,” and successful tours, Unspoken has built steady momentum through their last two EPs.  This stop is part of their “The Start A Fire” Tour featuring special guests Jonny Diaz and JJ Weeks Band. The Celebration Sunday concert is sponsored by WJIE.

Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront and the Chow Wagon are open daily thru Friday, May 1. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, except Sunday 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. This ultimate entertainment experience offers national concerts, family fun, food vendors, a children’s inflatable playground, midway rides and more. Admission is a 2015 Pegasus Pin. Kroger is title sponsor of the event, with contributing sponsor Miller Lite.

The Derby Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation.  It entertains more than 1.5 million people annually. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
