August 12, 2015. Louisville, KY. – The first 1,000 runners to sign up for the 2016 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon presented by Walmart and Humana beginning this Friday will save some money. Registration opens online on August 14th, at www.derbyfestivalmarathon.com. The early registration fees for those first 1,000 spots are $60 for the mini and $70 for the Marathon. Those spots are first come, first serve. Once those spots are taken, registration will move to the next price point.
The Kentucky Derby Festival’s races mark the largest annual day of road racing in Kentucky. This year’s races are set for Saturday, April 30, 2016, and will again be capped at 18,000 runners.
“We encourage any runners or walkers planning to participate in this year’s races to sign up early,” said Deja Lawson, Race Director. “It’s the best way to guarantee a spot in the 2016 event, and save money.”
