4/24/2016 – TODAY IS LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR DERBY FESTIVAL MINI OR MARATHON

April 24, 2016. Louisville, KY. – This is the last day runners or walkers can register to participate in the 2016 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon presented by Walmart and Humana set for next Saturday, April 30. Registration will close tonight at 11:59 p.m. There is no late registration. Those who’ve been waiting to the last minute to sign up can register online at derbyfestivalmarathon.com to guarantee their spot.

“The Marathon and miniMarathon marks the largest annual day of road racing in Kentucky,” said Deja Lawson, Race Director. “We need to close registration several days prior to the event to ensure we have the infrastructure and amenities in place to support all the runners.”

The races will start simultaneously at 7:30 a.m. at Main and Brook streets and will finish at Preston and Witherspoon streets, just outside the entrance to Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront. The course showcases the unique architecture on Main Street, including the Museum Row attractions. Runners in both races will still run a lap inside the infield at Churchill Downs racetrack and will pass by Central Park and the St. James Court neighborhood.

This year marks the Kentucky Derby Festival’s 15th Annual Marathon and 43rd Annual miniMarathon presented by Walmart and Humana. Preparations for the largest day of road racing in Kentucky begin Monday and continue through the week.
