04/15/25 – DERBY FESTIVAL’S ANNUAL CYCLING EVENT PEDALS THROUGH THE CITY THIS SATURDAY

NEW POST RIDE PARTY ADDED FOR PARTICIPANTS

April 15, 2025. Louisville, KY. – The Kentucky Derby Festival’s annual cycling experience – the PNC Tour de Lou – is set to take a spin through Louisville this Saturday, April 19. The event’s start and finish has moved to a new location at the Belvedere (141 N 6th Street, Louisville) due to the recent flooding. Cyclists will ride through Downtown and Old Louisville and earn a rose gold medal, featuring the Festival’s Pegasus in bright orange and pink colors. Registration is still open online at KDF.org.

The Derby Festival partners with the Louisville Bicycle Club to produce the premier ride, which is in its 12th year, and features distance options for all experience levels. The 2025 PNC Tour de Lou will start and finish at the Belvedere, located on Main Street in Downtown Louisville between 4th and 6th Streets, for all three distances – 20 miles, 35 miles and 62.1 miles (Metric Century). The course was originally set to start at the Lincon Memorial Lot in Waterfront Park.

Riders will experience the sights and sounds of Louisville. Participants will also pass through some of the city’s scenic parks, historic spots and attractions, including the Old Louisville neighborhood, downtown Louisville, parts of the picturesque Olmsted Park System and more. All three cycling distances are on an open course, so no streets are closed.

New this year, a Post Ride Party will be held at the Belvedere for participants. After their ride, cyclists can show their medal and receive one free beer (ages 21+) from West Sixth Brewing, one Nothing Bundt Cake or a Partee’s Kitchen Cookie, and Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. Participants will also receive an Official PNC Tour de Lou Shirt and Ride Swag Bag.

Scheller’s Fitness & Cycling will offer bike rentals for the first time for the PNC Tour de Lou. Participants can choose from a Road Bike or a Hybrid Bike (limited quantities available). Bikes can be rented online HERE and must be reserved in advance of the event day.

Baptist Health ER & Urgent Care joins the cycling event for 2025 as the Official Health Partner of the PNC Tour De Lou. They’ll be onsite providing hydration and first aid services, offering health information and passing out swag to participants.

Starting times are staggered based on distance: 62.1 miles (Metric Century) – 8 a.m., 35-mile ride – 8:15 a.m., 20-mile ride – 8:30 a.m. A virtual alternative is available for those who prefer to log their miles on their own. Riders who participate in the virtual option can still choose to complete the 20-, 35- or 62.1-mile distance and have between April 19 and May 19 to complete their distance. Participants can ride at their own pace – and even their own route – over multiple days.To register and for more information about the PNC Tour de Lou, visit KDF.org/TourdeLou.
