December 3, 2024, Louisville, KY. – It may be the holiday season, but the Kentucky Derby Festival is already wishing the community a “Happy Derby”! The Derby Festival is unveiling the design of its 2025 Pegasus Pin® TODAY at the Derby in December celebration at the Kentucky Derby Museum. The new design says, “Happy Derby,” a popular phrase often shared to commemorate the Derby season festivities. The circular-shaped pin also features two shades of pink, an official Festival color, and spotlights the Festival’s Pegasus symbol.
“The 2025 Pegasus Pin is more than just a symbol of spring, it celebrates the joy, enthusiasm, and optimism that surround the Derby season each year,” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO. “We hope this Pegasus Pin will be a fun conversation piece and must-have accessory that commemorates our favorite time of year and wishes everyone a “Happy Derby!”
The Kentucky Derby Festival teamed up with the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs for the day-long Derby in December event, held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first 100 guests to the Museum will receive a commemorative metal version of the Festival Pin. This year’s Pin design also ties into the Derby Festival’s “Happy” message that is part of the Festival’s new marketing campaign that fans will see in the upcoming season, and highlights the Festival as a fun, annual springtime tradition.
The Pegasus Pin has been a beloved symbol of the Derby Festival for more than 50 years, and 2025 marks the 53rd edition of the Pin. It’s your key to a month’s worth of Derby Festival fun, offering free admission to more than 30 of our events. Festival fans can pre-order their plastic 2025 Pegasus Pins beginning TODAY (Dec. 3) at PegasusPins.com. The plastic pins will be available at retail locations beginning in March 2025.

This involvement has made the Festival the largest single-attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
About Pegasus Pins
The Pegasus Pin Sponsorship program was started as an awareness campaign for the Derby Festival in 1973. At that time, only 10,000 of the plastic pins were produced. The 1973 version of the pin is valued at $800-$1,000 and it’s rare to find them. Since then, the pin sponsorships have become one of the primary sources of funding for Derby Festival events. A pin sponsorship investment is a way fans can support the Kentucky Derby Festival, a not-for-profit organization providing world-class entertainment.
