April 7, 2014. Louisville, KY. – The Clark Memorial/2nd Street Bridge will close this week in preparation for Thunder Over Louisville. We ask your help in communicating this information to the public in the coming days. The Louisville Metro Police Department will release their Thunder traffic plan on Monday.
CLARK MEMORIAL/2ND STREET BRIDGE CLOSURES THIS WEEK:
§ Thursday, April 10th: 9:30 a.m. – CLOSED thru Sunday at 2 p.m.
§ Friday, April 11th: CLOSED ALL DAY
§ Saturday, April 12th: CLOSED ALL DAY
§ Sunday, April 13th: CLOSED Midnight to 2:00 p.m.
PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLE COMMUTERS:
From Thursday at 9:30 a.m. until Saturday at 11 a.m., pedestrian and bicycle commuters needing to cross the Clark Memorial/2nd Street Bridge may do so using a free shuttle van operated, as needed, by the Kentucky Derby Festival. To request a van ride, speak with a security officer at either end of the Clark Memorial Bridge. The bridge will be completely closed – and no shuttle will operate – from Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. until Sunday, April 13, at 2:30 a.m.
Thunder Over Louisville – the Derby Festival’s Opening Ceremonies – is one of nearly 70 events produced by the Kentucky Derby Festival in the spring. The 2014 Thunder Over Louisville, themed “Throwback Thunder,” is set for Saturday, April 12, and will be the 25thannual production. The show is sponsored by Horseshoe Southern Indiana, KentuckyOne Health, LG&E, Meijer, UPS, and Valero.
