4/21/2014 – FESTIVAL’S NEW CYCLING EVENT IS SOLD OUT!

Tour de Lou Set for Sunday, April 27

April 21, 2014. Louisville, KY.   – The Kentucky Derby Festival’s new cycling event – Tour de Lou – is SOLD OUT.  1,250 bicyclists have registered to participate in the event on Sunday, April 27.  KDF is partnering with the Louisville Bicycle Club to produce Tour de Lou, which caters to cycling enthusiasts of all ages and all experience levels.

The Tour de Lou route will be an open course, with staggered start times, which will start and finish at Waterfront Park near Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville.  There will be three separate distances based on experience levels:

·         8:30 AM: 35 Mile Experienced Ride / Advanced Cyclists (Open course, no streets closed)

·         8:40 AM: 20 Mile Intermediate Ride / New to cycling (Open course, no streets closed)

·         10:30 AM: 4 Mile Family Ride / Beginner Family ride (In Waterfront Park)

The course includes a scenic Olmsted Park Tour showcasing Shawnee, Chickasaw, Wayside, Iroquois and Cherokee parks.  Cyclists on the more experienced rides will also travel through neighborhoods around the city from Downtown along Main Street and Waterfront Park, to Portland, Algonquin and South Louisville; as well as Old Louisville NULU, the Highlands and Butchertown.

Those cyclists who have not picked up their packet can do so beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning prior to the ride.  For more information on the event, visit kdf.org or call 584-FEST.
