11/18/2014 – DERBY FESTIVAL FOUNDATION POKER TOURNAMENT RETURNS IN DECEMBER

November 18, 2014. Louisville, KY. – The Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation’s Ho Ho Hold’Em Poker Tournament returns on Saturday, December 6th, just in time for the holidays.  The second annual tournament will be held at Horseshoe Southern Indiana in the First Floor Poker Room beginning at 5p.m.

Check-in begins at 4 p.m., tournament starts at 5 p.m. The $125 buy-in includes $6,000 worth of chips, a commemorative Derby Festival Texas Hold ‘Em metal event pin, customized card weight and one free buffet at The Spread Buffet restaurant. Re-buys will be available for $40 up to four times for $3,000 worth of chips (if player’s money is below $6,000 during first four levels of play). Proceeds from the event benefit the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation, the charitable arm of the Kentucky Derby Festival.

The tournament payout will be based on the size of the field (10% of the field will receive prize money). The tournament will also feature “bounties.” Any player who “knocks out” a bounty will receive an additional prize. The Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit charity, receives and manages charitable contributions on behalf of the Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc., its supporters and the general public. The Foundation perpetuates the Festival’s impact on the community by developing projects that highlight the Festival’s influence on the area’s cultural heritage. It works to further the Festival’s educational and charitable mission and awards grants to local, non-profit causes.

Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
