3/16/2015 – BLUES TRAVELER TO ‘HOOK’ FANS AT WATERFRONT JAM

FREE CONCERT SET FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 25

Monday, March 16, 2015. Louisville, KY.  – One of the coolest jam bands around with a funky blues sound, Blues Traveler, will perform at the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Waterfront Jam Presented by the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign. The Grammy winning blues-rock band will take the stage at 9 p.m. for the FREE concert on Saturday, April 25, at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville.  A 2015 Pegasus Pin is your ticket to the free show.

Currently rounding out the BillBoard Artist 100 Chart after rereleasing four of the group’s classic albums on vinyl, the multi-platinum, New Jersey based band, is set to release their 12th studio album, Blow Up the Moon, this year.  The album will feature musical guests including Jewel, Plain White T’s and ‘N Sync’s JC Chasez.

Still led by John Popper, Blues Traveler, is best known among fans for their insanely infectious live shows. The group defined mid-90s pop music with their harmonica laced Top 40 singles “Hook” and “Run Around”, which won the 1996 Grammy Award for “Best Rock Vocal Performance by Group”. In 2012, Blues Traveler released their 11th studio album, Suzie Cracks the Whip, which electrified listeners with their trademark sound. The self-proclaimed “band on tour forever” has captivated audiences around the world with upwards of 6,000 live shows in their 28 year history.

“The way the songs have held up moves me,” admits legendary front man John Popper. “We’ve really got nothing but love from our audience. If something has quality, it’s constantly reconsidered through the ages.”

The Kentucky Derby Festival Waterfront Jam Presented by the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign will include live music on two stages at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville featuring over 30 local and regional bands and 7 national acts beginning Thursday, April 23.  Admission to all concerts will be FREE with a 2015 Pegasus Pin.  Details of all the concert acts will be released in the coming weeks. Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville is open from Thursday, April 23, to Friday, May 1.  Fest-a-Ville and Chow Wagon Hours are 11 AM – 11 PM, except Sunday 12 PM – 11 PM.

About the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign: The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers is a non-profit organization that seeks to prevent drunk driving by promoting the use of safe and sober designated drivers. It was established in memory of Navy Ensign John Elliott of New Jersey, who was killed by a drunken driver in July 2000, two months after graduating with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
