4/28/2015 – DERBY FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES MORE CELEBRITY GUESTS

April 28, 2015 Louisville, KY.  – The stars are coming out for Kentucky Derby Festival events.  Derby Festival is adding more celebrities to this year’s guest list.  Many will take part in both the Celebrity Day at the Downs event on Thursday, April 30, as well as the Republic Bank Pegasus Parade later that same day.

Among the Kentucky Derby Festival’s guests scheduled to appear at the luncheon: Actor Miguel Ferrer of “NCIS: Los Angeles;” Angel McCoughtry, WNBA/Olympic Medalist and former UofL Cardinal; Monte Durham of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta;” country music artist J.D. Shelburne; Miss Kentucky 2014 Ramsey Carpenter; and Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev.

They will join Minnesota Viking and former UofL Cardinal Teddy Bridgewater, Grand Marshal of this year’s Republic Bank Pegasus Parade, as well as the Honorary Grand Marshals: Actor David DeSanctis, Transatlantic Solo Rower Tori Murden McClure, Renowned Hand Surgeon Dr. Joseph Kutz, Sculptor Ed Hamilton and Olympic Swimmer Marty T. Meagher.

Other Honorary Grand Marshals scheduled to appear in the parade include: NFL Hall of Fame Running Back, Paul Hornung; Musician Patrick Henry Hughes; PGA Golf Champion, Bobby Nichols; Former NFL Offensive Lineman, Will Wolford; and Dr. Dunkenstein, Darrell Griffith.

Celebrity Day at the Downs will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the sixth floor at Churchill Downs, featuring a traditional Kentucky luncheon and a day of racing on Millionaire’s Row. The event is sponsored by Kentuckiana Honda Dealers, with contributing sponsor Macy’s.  Media sponsors are Nfocus Magazine and Lite 106.9 WVEZ.

The Republic Bank Pegasus Parade steps off on Broadway at 5 p.m.  The parade is sponsored by Republic Bank. Tickets for the parade are still available by calling the Derby Festival Hotline at (502) 584-FEST. Ticket prices are $10 for bleacher seats and $12 for chair seating.

Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. The Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
