April 28, 2015 Louisville, KY. – The clear skies made a perfect night for golfing, but didn’t help any of golfers get the $1 million prize at the Finals of the Stock Yards Bank Kentucky Derby Festival $1 Million Dollar Hole-In-One Golf Contest. 56 competitors took swings at the green, set up 150 yards away (135 yards for women finalists, but none were able to ace Hole #8 at Seneca Golf Course.
Jeff Clark of Louisville came closest to the pin, hitting his tee shot 3 feet and 10 ½ inches from the cup. Clark won a $5,000 first prize. This isn’t the first time Jeff has participated in the competition and he says his wife is somewhat responsible for his win.
“It was my fourth time participating, but it was the first time I’ve hit a decent shot,” said Jeff Clark. “My wife was out of town and I got bored, so I came down on Thursday night with a $20 bill [and made it to the finals].”
A crowd of about 300 turned out at Seneca to watch the 56 Finalists. Any golfer who earlier made a hole-in-one during the qualifying rounds automatically qualified for the Finals and a shot at the $1 million. Any amateur player was eligible to enter. Everyone from scratch golfers to duffers took a swing at qualifying.
The Stock Yards Bank Kentucky Derby Festival $1 Million Dollar Hole-In-One preliminaries were held at the Seneca Golf Course Driving Range. The contest started April 16 and ran through April 26. Each shot was only $1, with special prices and promotions available for more than one shot.

Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. The Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
