March 1, 2019. Louisville, KY. – Looking for a sign that spring is just around the corner? Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Pins will be available at over 1,000 locations starting Monday, March 4! The pins can be found at grocery stores, gas stations, banks and other retail outlets around Kentuckiana – from Elizabethtown to Louisville and in Southern Indiana – as well as online at PegasusPins.com. The pins are $6 each at retail locations and $7 at the entrance to events. Festival Fun Packs, which include a Commemorative “Pegasus Power” Superhero Pin and 4 Pegasus Pins, also return this year for $25.
The Festival is giving away 8 Weekly Grand Prizes and any 2019 Pegasus Pin will be your opportunity to win! To be eligible to win any of the prizes, pins must be registered online at PegasusPins.com. The prizes will be given away weekly beginning Friday, March 15, through Friday, May 3. To find out if your pin is a winner, tune into Wave 3 News for the Weekly Grand Prize Drawings and the Gold Winner Pin Drawing.

With over 12,000 of these pins in circulation, the odds of finding a gold winner Pegasus Pin are approximately 1 in 20. This year’s pin design is inspired by the Festival’s official uniform jacket, just released last spring. The plastic pin is a miniature version of the jacket in fuchsia and Caribbean blue.
The Pegasus Pin Sponsorship program was started as an awareness campaign for the Derby Festival in 1973. At that time, only 10,000 of the plastic pins were produced. The 1973 version of the pin is valued at $800-$1,000 and it’s rare to find them. Since then, the pin sponsorships have become one of the primary sources of funding for Derby Festival events. A pin sponsorship investment is a way fans can support the Kentucky Derby Festival, a not-for-profit organization providing world-class entertainment. More than 250,000 of the pins are produced each year.
