08/11/20 – FOUR FINALISTS COMPETE FOR TITLE OF 2020 DERBY BURGER CHAMPION

August 11, 2020. Louisville, KY. – Burger fans have spoken! Nearly 4,000 beef lovers voted online to help pick the Top 4 finalists for this year’s Derby Burger Challenge, sponsored by the Kentucky Beef Council. This year’s finalists include:

  • Lori Poe of Mt. Sterling, with the Southern Charm Burger;
  • Greg Schaad of Louisville, with The Big Brown Butter Burger;
  • Donna Gribbins of Shelbyville, KY with the Bourbon Blackberry Bacon Cheeseburger; and
  • Scott Wisdom of Louisville, with the Win Place Show Burger.

The burgers now move into the Final Round of judging for the competition, which will also be held online at KDF.org/Beef. Fans can vote for their favorite burger now through Friday, August 15th. The competition, in its tenth year, moved completely online due to COVID-19.

All burgers must be 100 percent beef. The top 8 burger recipes were judged and selected based on Taste, Appearance, Creativity and Ease of Preparation.

The 2020 winning burger will be featured inside Louisville-area Kroger stores from August 26 – September 8. Recipe cards will be available, as well as a showcase of ingredients for shoppers to purchase to make their own Derby Burgers.

The winning chef also receives VIP tickets to 2021 Thunder Over Louisville, 2021 VIP Experience at Waterfront Jam, tickets to 2021 BeerFest, as well as a $100 gift certificate to Kroger and a grilling package from Kentucky Beef Council.

All recipes submitted for the 2020 Derby Burger Challenge will be automatically entered into the 2021 competition. Official rules of the competition can be found online at www.kdf.org/beef.
