08/31/20 – TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR VIRTUAL MINI OR MARATHON

August 31, 2020. Louisville, KY. – Today is the last day for participants to register for the Virtual Humana Kentucky Derby Festival mini or Marathon. Registration will be open online at DerbyFestivalMarathon.com until 11:59 PM tonight.

“The Derby Festival’s virtual race allows participants to run their own course and finish in their own time,” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO. “Our staff doesn’t usually get to participate in the event, and this year we’re even challenging ourselves to log some extra miles.”

To help participants take their virtual race to the next level, the Derby Festival has created a complete toolkit with everything runners need for a successful race including:

  • Official race t-shirt
  • Race medal
  • Digital Race certificate
  • Digital Race bib
  • Access within the RaceJoy app to track progress
  • Custom Spotify Playlist
  • Scenic Selfie Stops
  • A “How To” on designing your own race
  • Race completion “brag” graphics for social media

The virtual race toolkit is available online once participants register. All those who sign up have until September 30th to submit their results. Once submitted, the 2020 finisher’s medal and race shirt will be shipped directly to each participant.

“We appreciate the patience and continued support from our runners, our sponsors and the community as we’ve all worked through the changes to this year’s events,” said Gibson. “We look forward to being able to cross the finish line together again soon.”

2020 marks the 47th annual miniMarathon and 19th annual Marathon. This is the first time the races have been produced virtually. More details on the races can be found online at DerbyFestivalMarathon.com.
