04/26/22 – LOUISVILLE NATIVE WINS FIRST PRIZE AT HOLE-IN-ONE CONTEST FOR SECOND TIME

$1 MILLION PRIZE STILL UP FOR GRABS

April 26, 2022. Louisville, KY.  – The $1 million prize is still up for grabs after more than 30 years in the Stock Yards Bank Kentucky Derby Festival $1 Million Dollar Hole-In-One Golf Contest. No one has aced Hole #8 at Seneca Golf Course, though a Louisville man came closest tonight.

Josh Garr was nearest to the pin, hitting his tee 5 feet 8 inches from the cup, and winning the $5,000 first prize.

Tonight’s win wasn’t the first time Garr landed in the top spot at the Derby Festival golf event. He’s participated for several years and also won the $5,000 first prize in 2012.

Garr said he “feels very blessed” to win and already knows exactly what he’s planning to do with his winnings. He’ll be treating his sons to some golf clubs and his girlfriend to some new clothes, and then plans to put the rest in the bank.

It was a cool, sunny evening for the finals competition at Seneca as 56 Finalists took their shot at $1 million. Any golfer who made a hole-in-one during the qualifying rounds automatically qualified for the Finals and a shot at the $1 million. Any amateur player was eligible to enter. Everyone from scratch golfers to duffers took a swing at qualifying.

The Stock Yards Bank Kentucky Derby Festival $1 Million Dollar Hole-In-One preliminaries were held at the Seneca Golf Course Driving Range. The contest started April 14 and ran through April 24. Each shot was only $1, with special prices available for more than one shot.
