Pegasus Parade Participant Guidelines
DOWNLOAD PARADE GUIDELINESYou are applying to participate in the Zoller Pump Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Parade. If accepted, you agree to follow and abide by all Parade rules and regulations as stated below. Completion of this application does not guarantee acceptance.
Not all applicants will be selected for participation. The Parade Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any parade unit application.
- The application serves as a waiver of release for your organization and/or Parade unit. By signing the application, you are thus signing the waiver and agreeing to the terms therein.
- Accepted units will be contacted directly and receive a participation packet with the required documents. Failure to complete and return the required paperwork by the deadline could result in removal from the parade.
- All accepted units must provide the Kentucky Derby Festival a certificate of insurance naming the Kentucky Derby Festival and City of Louisville as additional insured. Your organization assumes responsibility for your participants. (You can obtain this insurance from your general liability carrier, or you may purchase insurance through the Kentucky Derby Festival for $100.)
- All accepted units are responsible for all their costs/expenses associated with performing in the Parade.
- All participants must dress in themed costumes, outfits or uniforms.
- Parade units must follow instructions from Parade officials.
- Parade participants are not allowed to distribute candy, pamphlets or other materials along the Parade Route.
- Children under the age of 14 MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Children under the age of 8 aren’t permitted to participate.

- Motorcycles and novelty vehicles of any kind are not allowed in the Parade.
- The Parade Committee must approve all animals to be in the Parade. City, state and federal ordinances and laws apply to all participating animals. All equine units must have a negative Coggins test within the past twelve months of the Parade and have proof of such a negative test.
- All entries with ANY sounds, sirens, horns, or music and amplifying systems must note that in their application and receive prior approval from the Parade Committee. Accepted units shall maintain a volume that will not interfere with other entries, especially those with animals. Failure to comply could result in removal from the line of march.
- Parade participants must stay in their assigned Assembly location unless otherwise instructed by a Parade official. Failure to do so will result in removing your unit from the Parade.

- Alcoholic beverages and other controlled substances are forbidden on and along the Parade Route. This policy includes Assembly, Route, Dispersal and all indoor and outdoor operational areas of the Parade. Participants consuming said substance before or during the Parade will not be allowed to participate and will be removed from the line of march.

- Improper use of the American flag is not permitted.
- The Kentucky Derby Festival has its own Royal Court. No outside pageant participants are accepted to participate in the parade unless otherwise approved by the Kentucky Derby Festival and the Parade Committee.
