04/24/21 – KROGER GREAT BALLOONFEST TRIBUTE POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY EVENING

The Kroger Great BalloonFest Tribute which was postponed this morning due to unfavorable winds, is now postponed until tomorrow (Sunday) evening. Balloonists had hoped to take flight Sunday morning, but have decided to wait until the evening for better flying conditions. Festival officials will continue to monitor the weather and share any updates. The evening flight would take place around 6 p.m.

Over a dozen balloons are expected to take flight in honor of the Festival’s annual hot air balloon events. The Tribute is not open to spectators, but fans are encouraged to take photos of the balloons if they see them in flight and share on social media using the hashtag #SpotABalloon. Those who spot a balloon and share photos on social media will be entered to win a hot air balloon ride for two.

Since the first Great Balloon Race was held in 1973, the Derby Festival’s ballooning events have been considered among the best in the country. BalloonFest attractions are one of the most popular family-friendly events on the Derby Festival schedule.

The Tribute is sponsored by Kroger.
