10/12/20 – DERBY FESTIVAL AND AMAZON LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS

WINNERS RECEIVE $500 AMAZON GIFT CARD

October 12, 2020. Louisville, KY. – The Kentucky Derby Festival and Amazon are teaming up to recognize champions in the community – those who’ve had a special impact on our lives in 2020. Behind-the-scenes or on the front lines, the Derby Festival wants to honor those who’ve gone above and beyond through a new program called Community Champions, which is sponsored by Amazon. Beginning today, nominations are being accepted online at KDF.org/CommunityChampions.

“2020 has been a year like no other. Through the challenges, we’ve seen champions in all walks of life,” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO. “We want to thank those who’ve had a special impact on our community – and we’re asking for the public’s help to nominate those individuals.”

Nominations are being accepted online today through Friday, November 6th. The Festival provides a variety of examples of champions from Medical and Education Champions to Neighborhood and Warehouse Champions, and many more. Nominees can be an individual or work for a business. Nominators can also submit more than one nomination.

Once the nominations close, a panel of judges will then review the nominations and announce six top Community Champions in mid-November. Nominations will be judged on their unique and lasting impact on the community.

The winners will receive a $500 Amazon Gift Card, as well as gifts from the Kentucky Derby Festival and recognition as an Official Kentucky Derby Festival Community Champion.

Complete details, the timeline of nominations, and the submission form can be found online at KDF.org/CommunityChampions.
