November 15, 2016. Louisville, KY.   – The Kentucky Derby Festival is giving runners another chance at winning free or discounted registration for the 2017 Marathon and miniMarathon presented by Walmart and Humana. Race Officials are hosting a special Race for Rewards promotion in conjunction with the grand opening of the new Walmart SuperCenter on Outer Loop (4840 Outer Loop, across from Jefferson Mall).  They’ll be on site at the store on Wednesday, November 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Anyone who visits the Race for Rewards booth will receive $5 off their race entry for 2017. Participants who bring their old shoes to donate to WaterStep at the booth will receive $10 off their entry. Runners can also spin the “Wheel of Rewards” to win various prizes including Pasta Party tickets, Official Race merchandise and 5 lucky spinners will win FREE registration.

Registering early is the one way to guarantee a spot in the 2017 races – and to save money. The largest annual day of road racing in Kentucky is set for Saturday, April 29, 2017, and will again be capped at 18,000 runners.  Registration is open online at DerbyFestivalMarathon.com. Registration fees are $75 for the mini and $85 for the Marathon through January 31.
