FANS CAN PRE-ORDER THE NEW DESIGN STARTING TODAY
December 11, 2025. Louisville, KY. – It may be the holiday season, but the Kentucky Derby Festival is already catching spring fever! The Derby Festival is unveiling the design of its 2026 Pegasus Pin® TODAY as part of the third annual Derby in December celebration at the Kentucky Derby Museum. The horseshoe-shaped pin boasts a translucent teal color, a signature shade of the Festival, and is trimmed in silver, the classic color of a horseshoe. The design also spotlights the Festival’s Pegasus symbol.
“Unveiling the Pegasus Pin design is always a special moment and a sign that the Kentucky Derby Festival is just around the corner,” said Matt Gibson, Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO. “More than a symbol of spring, Pegasus Pins are also an access pass to Festival fun. With pre-orders open, fans can start planning now for the upcoming season!”
2026 marks the 54th edition of the Pin. The horseshoe shape is a nod to early Pegasus Pin designs from the 1970s. The last time the Pegasus Pin featured a horseshoe was in 1983. In recognition of another hallmark hue of the Festival, the rubber back clasp for the pin is pink.
Transformative Teal was named the 2026 Color of the Year by WGSN (Worth Global Style Network) and Coloro, which also inspired the 2026 Pin color. (WGSN is a global trend forecasting company that provides data-driven insights on consumer behavior, product design and market trends).
The Kentucky Derby Festival is partnering with the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs for the free day-long Derby in December event, held today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Festival will be handing out a commemorative metal version of the 2026 Pegasus Pin to 100 guests throughout the day.
Festival fans can pre-order their plastic 2026 Pegasus Pins beginning TODAY (Dec. 11) at PegasusPins.com. The plastic pins will be available at retail locations around Kentuckiana beginning in March 2026.
