February 3, 2015 Louisville, KYSix companies are returning to sponsor  this year’s Thunder Over Louisville – the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Opening Ceremonies.  KDF made the announcement at their headquarters this morning.  Horseshoe Southern Indiana, KentuckyOne Health, LG&E, Meijer, UPS and Valero are all presenting sponsors of the 2015 Thunder Over Louisville fireworks and air show to be held on Saturday, April 18, along the banks of the Ohio River in downtown. In addition to the six presenting sponsors, Ford Motor Company returns as sponsor of Ford’s Thunder on the Ground.

“The continued generosity of these sponsors is a real gift to the community,” said Mike Berry, Kentucky Derby Festival President and CEO. “Thunder Over Louisville is a massive undertaking and the support we receive from these sponsors allows us to produce the kind of spectacular show the public has come to expect year after year.”

This is the 25th consecutive year that UPS has been a presenting sponsor of Thunder Over Louisville. Horseshoe Southern Indiana has been a Thunder presenting sponsor for 16 consecutive years; LG&E and Meijer have both been Thunder sponsors for the past nine years in a row; this is the third year for KentuckyOne Health and second year for Valero.

For the fourth year in a row, Ford is title sponsor of the Thunder on the Ground attraction, which showcases a wide variety of activities taking place during the day in and around Waterfront Park on April 18.

This year’s Thunder theme – “Boom With A View” – is play on the senses, referencing all that fans hear and see on Thunder day.  “The soundtrack will also delight the senses,” says Wayne Hettinger, Thunder Show Producer.  “We try to fill the soundtrack with songs that will get everyone excited, and this year’s show will be no different.”

The 2015 Thunder air show will also feature appearances by the U.S.A.F. Thunder Over Louisville – the Derby Festival’s Opening Ceremonies – is one of nearly 70 events produced by the Derby Festival in the spring. The 2015 Thunder Over Louisville, themed “Boom With A View,” is set for Saturday, April 18, and will be the  will be the 26th annual production.
