April 30, 2019. Louisville, KY. – Prost! The Kentucky Derby Festival BeerFest presented by Liberty Financial returns for its 7th year. BeerFest features beer tasting sessions from regional and craft beers. The event is 6-9PM Wednesday on the Overlook at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront, with entertainment provided by the Hot Brown Smackdown. There will also be plenty to snack on while you taste including the Derby Burger, Kern’s Kitchen Derby Pie and a Pretzel Necklace Station. This year’s BeerFest will be divided into three major sections: Pioneers of Craft, Kentucky Village, and Specialty Imports. Pioneers of Craft will include such reputable distilleries as Sam Adams, Blue Moon and New Belgium. Kentucky Village will feature beers from neighboring states that border Kentucky. This includes such brands as Holsopple, West 6th and Upland. Lastly, Specialty Imports will feature Belgium and German beers like St. Bernardus and Warsteiner. This year’s annual BeerFest will also have brand new beers never previously featured before! This includes Marathon Beer Company and Against the Grain!
There will be more than just beer tasting at this year’s event, thanks to a partnership with The Boston Beer Company. Attendees can participate in the Sam Adam’s ‘Guess That Sam’ Competition; Angry Orchard Angry Pour Competition & Relay Race; win a Fit Bit in Truly’s push up competition; plus sampling from Marathon 26.2 and Twisted Tea. Best of all, Sam Adams will have special tappings for beers not available in Kentucky!
General admission tickets are $50 in advance; $60 at the gate. Ticket availability is limited. Tickets include all activities, plus beer tastings, and a commemorative sampling mug. This is a 21 and over only event. Participants must present ID upon entry. Tickets are still available by calling (502) 584-FEST or online at KDF.org.
