Registration Still Available for miniFun Run
April 22, 2014. Louisville, KY. – The second annual Kentucky Derby Festival miniFun Run presented by HumanaVitality and Subway Restaurants– is set for Sunday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m. The kids’ fitness run features a course at Waterfront Park with the finish near Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville and is for ages 3-14 years old.
The route will feature a looped course which will start and finish in the same place. The start line for all age groups will be inside Waterfront Park, at Harbor Point and finish near Preston and Witherspoon Streets on River Road. There will be three separate distances in the miniFun Run:
- 3-5 years old – 50 meters
- 6-9 years old – 150 meters
- 10-14 years old – 1 mile
Adults are welcome to participate with their child and do not have to pay an additional registration fee. Parents of those in the youngest age group are encouraged to run along with their child.
Registration is $20 and is still available online at www.DerbyFestivalMarathon.com or by calling (502) 584-FEST. Registration will also be available on-site the day of the event from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Runners in the Marathon and miniMarathon receive a $5 discount for their children.)
Participants will receive a special medal, race bib and T-shirt. Since 1956, the Derby Festival has worked to bring the community together in celebration. The Festival is an independent community organization supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single-attended event in Kentucky and one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
