April 25, 2015. Louisville, KY. – Teams from Jefferson County Elementary and Middle Schools took part in the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation Academic Challenge Presented By Sullivan University at Male High School on Saturday. After six rounds, Greathouse Shryock Elementary School defeated Bradeis Elementary School in the Elementary School Division finals. Johnson Traditional Middle School won the Middle School Division, defeating Lassiter Middle School.
The 1st place teams received a trophy and a $200 donation to their school from the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation. 2nd place received a trophy and a $100 donation to their school from the Festival’s Foundation.
The Academic Challenge Presented by Sullivan University represents an opportunity for students from all over the county to test their acumen by answering questions pertaining to math, science, social studies, language arts and humanities. The competition featured several teams from local elementary and middle schools. Jefferson County Public Schools produced this year’s quick-recall tournament .
The event is sponsored by Sullivan University and coordinated by Jefferson County Public Schools. It is a Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation event.
