April 29, 2017. Louisville, KY. –The Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon presented by Walmart and Humana got underway shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, after three delays due to the threat of severe weather. Runners, while anxious to get the race started, took shelter and waited patiently for storms to move out of the area before participating in Kentucky’s largest road race. This year’s races had over 12,000 registered participants and the inclement weather didn’t slow them down. 2017 marks the 44th annual miniMarathon and 16th annual Marathon.
