4/8/2015 – ONE WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER FOR DERBY FESTIVAL MARATHON AND MINI

April 8, 2015. Louisville, KY.   Runners waiting until the last minute to register for the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon presented by Walmart and HumanaVitality have one week left to get signed up.  The Kentucky Derby Festival will close registration on Tuesday, April 15 at 11:59 p.m.

“The Marathon and miniMarathon marks the largest annual day of road racing in Kentucky,” said Deja Lawson, Race Director.  “We will close registration several days prior to the event to ensure we have the infrastructure and amenities in place to support all the runners.”

The races are set for Saturday, April 25th.  Registration is available online at www.DerbyFestivalMarathon.com. Current registration is $85 for the mini and $95 for the Marathon.

Those runners who don’t want to run a full mini or marathon can split the distance with friends or co-workers through the Marathon Team Relay.  Teams of 3 to 5 runners can register and run shorter legs of the race.  The distances range from 5K to 12 K in the relay.  Teams can register online via the race website.

The races will start simultaneously at 7:30 a.m. at Main and Brook streets and will finish at Preston and Witherspoon streets, just outside the entrance to Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront. The course showcases the unique architecture on Main Street, including the Museum Row attractions. Runners in both races will still run a lap inside the infield at Churchill Downs racetrack and will pass by Central Park and the St. James Court neighborhood.  Marathon runners enter Iroquois Park through the Marathon Gatewway Presented by HumanaVitality.
